  Amazing Make-up Q&A with Keith Roberts (R&H)

The Q&A session from the title just finished and it was so coooool! Pitty for all the people that missed it. Let me just tell you that those make-up Q&As are sooo invaluable (as well as the other stuff here at AM, too :) )! During the time of Mentor Q&As you should generally try to focus mostly on the stuff that is related to your assignments and lectures in order to spare the time of both your mentor and your fellow classmates. On the contrary, on the Globals you can and should ask whatever you want, wheither it is something about how to animate some specific action in your personal project or to ask for an advice on making/submitting your reel or... or anything else you can think of. Of course that you can ask your mentor anything but... I think you got the point. :)

Note for the AM students: Try to participate in these make-ups AMAP. They worth a lot!!

Here I come, Tailor... you wicked wicked mutant ball.

  Week 5 Pose Revision

Last night I finally(!!) finished revision for the Week 5. Goosh... I spent so many time on that f...amous ball that I could animate batallion of clone troopers storming the Jedi Temple. Just... if I was skillful enough. :P

What's important is that the revision is in its slot, up in my AM workspace. Since there are three slightly different versions of animation, I will wait for the Bill's word and show you THE one. There are three new poses too, but I care about your bandwidth ;) so I'll show you just one, that is better than the other two IMHO. This image is a bit touched in Photoshop, but it's pose that counts, not some fancy coloring. Except if you want to make it fit the color scheme of your blog more nicely. hehh

AM Class 1 Session 5 Revised DEVASTATION Pose by TTesla

I spent a great day today but I am so exhausted that I couldn't sleep and I'm trying and trying... I went over the edge. Nooo good, no good. In the meantime, I animated the first pass of Tailor and it looks OK to me. Now, I will lay down in bed again and try to sleep... again. zzzz

  Week 5 Revision + Unrevised-original W5 Pose :)

Woooooaaahhmmhm... Last night I was doing revision of my previous assignment so take a look at what I got. I didn't submit it yet cause I *need* feedback. Thanks. ;)

Also have a look at the DEVASTATION pose I did for that previous assignment. When I get some time I'll tweak it here and there but till now I thiiiink maybe it's not a bad idea to get some sleep, eh? :)

  Week 5 Assignment

For the previous week we had to animate a soccer/basketball-like ball that initiate movement itself and than continue to bounce (not to jump) around, by the laws of physics. So here is what I did. There *are* some spots that needs to be tweaked but I'll wait for the Bill's critique first. Take a look and feel free to comment/critisize it. I appreciate it a lot. Thanks. :)

12 princilpes of being a computer animator

  1. Don't rest.

    Who needs a sleep anyway?
  2. Don't eat.

  3. Food is expensive, but hardware is too. How you could animate (successfuly) if you don't have that newest-just-released graphic card and a fancy case? Yes, it would be painful.
  4. Take your computer everywhere with you.

  5. Even if you do not have a portable one. That way you'll show to the world how dedicated computer animator you are.
  6. Begin your answers with "Leeet ME tell you..."

  7. That way you'll show YOUR greeeat attitude and everyone will both like and respect you.
  8. Memorize references.

  9. REAL animators knooow how things are moving. Even if they accidentaly take a look at some reference material, that is for once in a lifetime.
  10. Comment on others work.

  11. When you're at cinema comment SOOO LOUD that everyone can hear that you know everything. Especially how you could do something better. It is sooo important to scream out loud all mistakes that your eagle's eye can notice. This way you'll help others to care about them too, instead of being lame and just having fun.
  12. Protect your ego at all costs.

  13. Don't get people trick you and say that you're not right on something. Actually who cares about being right, it's all about making impression of the unbeatable attitude.
  14. Deadlines are for dorks.

  15. If you accidentaly start working under deadline your life will suffer. Someone else will be in charge of YOUR work and that's not acceptable. That can heavily mess your life protocols.
  16. Start your work as late as possible.

  17. So you'll have more time for yourself.
  18. Computer is your best coworker.

  19. Your computer can and should do more than a half of job for you and that's cool!
  20. Socialize.

  21. This one's sooo important. Install some instant messanger and irc client ASAP.
  22. Memorize this princilpes.

  Surprise suuuurpriiiiise!

Since our Bill went to fight with the AMily hurricane, it's been announced that we'll have a substitute mentor, great Kenny Roy from Rhythm&Hues. And the time has come... but nothing happened. And nothing... and nothing... Some jedi animators could sense the anticipation of some surprise action, but we're still poor little padawans. And than kenr logged in, but his video feed was off - all black. Moments later... BOOM! Bobby Beck jumped in, to substitute Kenny and after some short time, the incredible Carlos Baena joined us too! WOOOOO!

If you wanted to ask me how was it - please don't. hhaha Just imagine. Yes, it was AWESOME! They gave us so many tips and guess what... Your host made monkey of himself in front of camera AGAIN! I didn't have audio so I was waving and making faces - muted. hahhaha Somehow my Flash player settings went off and instead of camera mic the wave device was enabled. Ahhh Bobby pull me up two times so my MonkeyRate<tm> wents pretty high. EEK! hhah

People who know me in real life knooow that I like to keep a low profile and not do much of "self-promotion". But since one of the purposes of this blog is to write down not only what happened in space&time continuum but what happened to me too, I'll share this with ya... Shhh don't tell anyone. Shhh anyone? Anyone actually reading this? hehh

This is how Bobby looked after reviewing my "2 Bouncing Balls" assignment.

Bobby Beck shouting AWESOME hihihihi

My heart is full! WOOOOOOO!! :))

EXCITEMENT Pose - Week 3 Assignment

I hope tomorrow I'll get some time to get a rest and to read 'Illusion of Life' - Chapter 3 again. This week was huh... exhausting. And the next assignment looks very promising - that we'll have even less time for sleep. Ok, enough ranting. Have a look on the pose I did for the Week 3.

EXCITEMENT Pose

Excitement Pose

I will post my bouncing ball some time after. :P Please do understand me - I-need-to-go-out! I need to go away from the computer! I need to breath fresh air! I need some more coffee! Aaand... I need someone. :)

  Week 2 Revisions

A whole day I was working on a-single-pose. Huh... revision(s) of the assignment.

Assignment 1 - Revision 1a
Assignment 1 - Revision 1b

After those two, I reworked it completely and this is what I got. Insanity... I need to do another pose and bouncing ball for Sunday. AAaaaiiaiaiaaaaa-iaiaaaa! *Tarzan's line*

Assignment 1 - Revision 3

Though it is hard, it's also a lot of fun to do this stuff. Planning(!), sketching, posing, awaitting feedback :) etc Sleeping is good too, but I cannot manage to get more than couple of hours per day. Pain...

  First (pose) assignment

Well, I tried to get away from "cliche"... I found that many people use to do poses where almost every body part is overlapped with each other or non of them are. Also, the common practice is to take certain emotion and push it up to the extreme dough this made sense to me. So... I did it the opposite way - I made 'bored' pose... that is boring as well. :) Have a look.

AnimationMentor - Class 1 - Session 2 - Assignment public review by TTesla

Yes, it looks boring and guess what? There are plenty of serious mistakes. Huh? No, I am not disappointed BRE! I am amazed how much I learnt from a single critique I got from my mentor, Bill Diaz. He pointed many issues so I am doing revision right now and soon I'll show you what I came up with. Maaaybe I'll scan some of the (definatelly) more interresting pose sketches I did for this assignment but I said - maybe! I am shy. :)
Cya.
